How to Set Up TVNADO on MAG Box (2026 & 2027 Guide)
MAG boxes (Infomir) use a unique Stalker Portal system rather than standard apps. This guide walks you through finding your MAC address, registering it with TVNADO, and entering the portal URL. Fully optimized for 2026 and future Infomir updates.
What You Need Before You Start
- A MAG Box (e.g., MAG 250, 254, 322, 324, 420, 424) connected to your TV via HDMI.
- A wired Ethernet connection. (Note: Most MAG boxes do not have built-in Wi-Fi. You will need a Wi-Fi bridge or a MAG-compatible USB Wi-Fi adapter if you cannot use a cable).
- Your TVNADO order confirmation email.
- Your MAG box's unique MAC Address (you will find this in Step 1).
How MAG Box Setup Works (Stalker Portal)
Unlike Android or Firestick, a MAG box is a closed system. You cannot download apps from a store. Instead, it connects directly to a server using a Stalker Portal.
1 Find Your MAG Box MAC Address
The MAC address is a unique hardware identifier. On MAG boxes, it always starts with 00:1A:79.
- Turn on your MAG box and TV.
- Press the Menu button on your MAG remote.
- Go to Settings.
- Select System Settings.
- Select Information (or Device Info).
- Look for the line that says MAC Address (e.g.,
00:1A:79:XX:XX:XX). Write this down exactly.
2 Register Your MAC Address with TVNADO
Because MAG boxes are locked down, your MAC address must be whitelisted on the TVNADO server.
- Open your TVNADO welcome email.
- Reply to the email or contact support via polbox.us.
- Provide your MAC address (e.g.,
00:1A:79:XX:XX:XX) and ask them to activate it for a MAG/Stalker Portal connection. - Wait for confirmation from support that your MAC has been added to the server.
3 Enter the Portal URL
Once support confirms your MAC address is registered, you can enter the TVNADO Portal URL.
- Press the Menu button on your remote.
- Go to Settings → System Settings → Servers.
- Select Portals.
- Select Portal 1.
- In the Name field, type "TVNADO".
- In the URL field, carefully type the Portal URL exactly as provided in your welcome email. (It usually starts with http://).
- Press OK to save.
4 Reboot and Load the Portal
MAG boxes require a restart to apply the new portal settings.
- Go back to System Settings.
- Select Restart (or unplug the power cable and plug it back in).
- When the box boots up, it will automatically connect to the TVNADO portal.
- Wait for the channel list and EPG to download (this can take 2–3 minutes).
✅ Your TVNADO MAG setup is complete!
5 MAG Box Navigation Tips
MAG remotes have specific buttons that make navigating TVNADO very fast:
- F1 (Red): Opens the TV Guide / EPG.
- F2 (Green): Opens the Movie / VOD library.
- F3 (Yellow): Opens your Favourites list.
- F4 (Blue): Opens the Settings/Search menu.
- INFO button: Brings up the channel description and current program info.
The Future of MAG Boxes: 2026 Updates & 2027 Readiness
Infomir (the maker of MAG boxes) continues to update the Ministra OS. Here is how TVNADO is preparing for the future of these devices:
- 2026 Firmware Compatibility: We have fully tested our Stalker Portal against the latest 2026 MAG firmware updates (including MAG 420/424 models) to ensure zero connection drops.
- 4K/HDR Optimization: Our servers are optimized to deliver 4K streams to newer MAG boxes that support HDMI 2.0 and HEVC decoding.
- 2027 Legacy Support: While older MAG 250/254 models are being phased out by Infomir, TVNADO will continue to support their legacy codecs for as long as they remain functional.
- Transition to Linux & Android: For users upgrading in 2027, we offer guides for setting up TVNADO on newer Android TV boxes which offer a more modern experience than the aging MAG OS.
Troubleshooting MAG Box Issues
"STB is blocked" or "Portal not loading"
This is the most common MAG box error and usually means the MAC address is not registered properly.
- Double-check the MAC address you sent to support. A single wrong digit will block the connection.
- Ensure the Portal URL is typed exactly correctly, including the
http://at the start. - Contact TVNADO support to confirm your MAC address has been whitelisted.
No internet connection on the MAG box
- MAG boxes usually require a wired Ethernet connection. Check that the cable is firmly plugged in.
- If using a USB Wi-Fi adapter, ensure it is a model officially supported by Infomir (generic adapters often do not work).
- Restart your router and MAG box.
Channels load but video is black or audio is out of sync
- Go to Settings > Video > Video Output and try changing the resolution (e.g., from 1080p to 720p or Auto).
- Check the HDMI cable. Older or faulty cables can cause HDCP handshake issues.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use my TVNADO subscription on both a MAG box and a Firestick?
Most TVNADO plans allow one active connection at a time. A MAG box uses a different connection type (Stalker Portal) than a Firestick (Xtream Codes). If you switch from MAG to Firestick, you may need to ask support to reset your connection type.
Why do I need to send my MAC address?
Unlike apps where you type a username and password, MAG boxes authenticate strictly via their hardware MAC address. The TVNADO server must be told "allow this specific box to connect."
Can I install other apps on a MAG box?
No. MAG boxes run a closed Linux-based OS (Ministra). They are designed solely to connect to portals. If you want to install apps like Netflix or YouTube, you need an Android TV box.
Does TVNADO work on the newer MAG 424/524 models?
Yes. The newer 4K MAG models (420, 424, 524) work perfectly with TVNADO and support 4K resolution if your TV and HDMI cable also support it.
